External Use Table Overview:
The purpose of this procedure is to ensure that College facilities and the grounds owned by the College are maintained in a safe and orderly manner that support the basic College functions of teaching and learning. The College's mission statement states:
"We are in partnership with the community we serve." To help in fulfilling this mission, the College is committed to offering external groups the use of College facilities whenever appropriate.
This procedure is intended to implement WCC Board of Trustees Policies:

The college will make available designated facilities to internal and external organizations for activities which are primarily charitable or educational and will benefit the college and community. The College reserves the right to accept or reject any request
for use of facilities.
As outlined in Board Policy 8018, “In promoting freedom of expression among its students, the Board reaffirms its commitment to preserving College property as a nonpublic forum as to non-students. Unlike public streets, sidewalks, and parks, the property,
buildings, or facilities owned or controlled by the College are not open for assembly, speech, or other activities.”
Description: The college provides one table and two chairs on the first floor of the Student Center Building for eligible external users.
Note: Due to a large number of interested organizations and the limited designation of space, non-sponsored External Individuals, Non-Profit and For-Profit Organizations may not hold table promotions.
Definitions of Eligible Users:
Categories of external users are defined as:
Currently Enrolled Student: An individual who is currently enrolled in credit classes at Washtenaw Community College and not acting as a promotional agent for a business. (ELIGIBLE)
External Individual: An individual who is not currently enrolled in Washtenaw Community College classes. (NOT ELIGIBLE)
Non-Profit Organization: A corporation or association that conducts business for the benefit of the general public without shareholders and without a profit motive. (NOT ELIGIBLE - UNLESS SPONSORED BY A COLLEGE DEPARTMENT)
For-Profit Organization: A corporation or association that conducts business with a profit motive. (NOT ELIGIBLE - UNLESS SPONSORED BY A COLLEGE DEPARTMENT)
College-Sponsored Organization: Any organization that is working in partnership with a WCC department or division (approved by Director or above) for the purpose of supporting a college-sponsored program, service or mission. (ELIGIBLE)
WCC Student Organization: Any registered Student Organization. (ELIGIBLE)
Internal Political Advocate: A student, staff or faculty member representing a political party, representing a political candidate or petitioning for a specific position within an official government-sponsored election process. (ELIGIBLE)
External Political Advocate: An organization or individual representing a political party, representing a political candidate or petitioning for a specific position within an official government-sponsored election process. (ELIGIBLE)
